Hong Kong, 9 July 2026

Statrys, the Hong Kong-based fintech company serving SMEs across Asia, has launched local account capabilities in five European markets: the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, and Liechtenstein. Clients holding a Hong Kong business account can now send and receive payments using local payment in these markets, directly from their existing Statrys account.

The new accounts include:

  • UK: Local account details for GBP payments
  • Germany: IBAN for EUR payments across the SEPA Zone (excluding Andorra and the Vatican)
  • Luxembourg: IBAN for EUR payments across the SEPA Zone (excluding Andorra and the Vatican)
  • Denmark: Local account details for DKK payments
  • Liechtenstein: IBAN for CHF payments, usable in Liechtenstein and Switzerland

For businesses invoicing European customers, paying local suppliers, or receiving payouts from platforms and partners in Europe can now choose the payment route that best fits each transaction, whether local or international, as needed.

It also changes how Statrys clients appear to their European counterparties. Sharing local account details makes it easier for customers to pay — and gives businesses better control over payment costs on both sides.

Every market has its own way of moving money. For our clients doing business in Europe, these new local accounts give them more flexibility, more control over costs, and a better way to pay and get paid like local companies.

FAQs

What are local accounts?

A local account gives your business local account details in a specific country, so you can pay and get paid through that country’s local payment rails. For example, a UK local account gives you a sort code and account number — the details UK businesses are used to. A Danish local account gives you Danish account details. A German account gives you a German IBAN, which can be used across the SEPA zone. A Luxembourg account gives you a Luxembourg IBAN, which can also be used across the SEPA zone. A Liechtenstein account gives you local account details for receiving and sending CHF payments. In short, your business can operate more like a local company, without opening a separate bank account in each country.

Why are two transactions executed for this payment?

Your existing Statrys account is based in Hong Kong and/or Singapore. It lets you hold and manage 11 major currencies, make domestic payments in Hong Kong or Singapore, and send international transfers in the currencies supported by your account. Local accounts do not replace your existing Statrys account. They add new payment options. With local accounts, your business gets local account details in specific markets, such as a UK sort code and account number, a German IBAN, a Luxembourg IBAN,  a Danish account number, or CHF local account details in Liechtenstein. This means you can pay and get paid through local payment rails, where available. In practice, this gives your business more choice. Some payments may be better sent internationally from your Hong Kong or Singapore account. Others may be faster, cheaper, or easier through local account details or local payment rails. Some currencies or countries may also come with specific rules, limits, or restrictions. So the difference is not “old account versus new account”. It is more payment routes, more local options, and more flexibility to choose the rail that works best for each payment.

Who can open a local account?

All Statrys clients with a Hong Kong business account can request local accounts directly from their Digital Backoffice. If your primary Statrys account is in Singapore, you can first request a Hong Kong business account. Once opened, you’ll be able to access the local account options available to Hong Kong account holders.

Can I open multiple local accounts?

Yes. You can request several local accounts, but each local account must be opened individually. The process is simple: apply online from your Digital Backoffice, upload or confirm any information required, and wait for approval. Requests are usually reviewed within 1 to 2 working days. Once one local account is approved, you can request another local account in a different jurisdiction.

Does my client need to do anything differently to pay me?

Not necessarily. It depends on which account details you choose to share. If you want your client to pay you through your new local account, simply add those local account details to your invoice or payment instructions. Your client can then pay you using the local payment details they are familiar with. If you prefer to keep receiving payments through your existing Statrys account, you can continue sharing those details instead. The choice is yours.
