Prefer simple, transparent fees? Statrys keeps things simple.

Written by Bertrand Théaud, Founder

20+ years in Asia as a corporate lawyer, investor, and fintech founder. I've sat on both sides of the table and seen the same avoidable mistakes hit founders again and again. The reviews and articles I write are for founders who'd rather skip the mistakes.

Key Takeaways

Osome’s banner offers Hong Kong incorporation for HKD 3,950, but you actually pay HKD 7,950. The HKD 4,000 comes back from Aspire only if you’re a new customer of both and deposit HKD 8,000 within 30 days of opening your Aspire account.

Its audit page promises a “flat, transparent fee” with no “unexpected extra charges” but publishes no audit price. Its terms say Osome does “not provide regulated legal or audit services”; partner firms do, on a quote.

Prices can also change after you sign. Osome can amend fees (you have 30 days from notice to terminate, otherwise continued use counts as acceptance) and apply a higher tier “retrospectively” if it judges your usage “excessive”.

Over two years, incorporation and compliance cost HKD 17,150 to 18,450 with Osome against HKD 14,841 with Statrys. With accounting and audit added, Osome suits very small or high-volume businesses and Statrys suits high-revenue, low-transaction ones.

Osome's Hong Kong pricing pages look like some of the clearest in the market. Every package has a number, every add-on has a number, and the accounting page says its add-on prices "are published so you can budget accurately."

That's what makes the fine print worth reading. When a provider leads with transparency, founders tend to stop checking. They sign on the headline price, skip the terms, and find out in year two what the contract actually allows.

So I read Osome's Hong Kong Terms of Business clause by clause and set them against its marketing. Some of Osome's terms are standard for the industry, and I'll say so where they are. Others change what you'll actually pay, or how easily you can leave.

Statrys competes directly with Osome for company incorporation in Hong Kong, so we have a stake in this. That's why everything below quotes Osome's own pages and terms word for word, alongside the Companies Registry's register of licensed providers and Osome's Trustpilot profile.

This review is based on research conducted in October 2026, using Osome's Hong Kong pricing pages, Terms of Business, offer and audit pages, the Companies Registry's TCSP register, and Osome's Trustpilot profile.

Incorporation Essential HKD 4,650 (no registered address); Comprehensive HKD 8,950 (address included). Both include government fees and a first-year company secretary

Business account None of its own; referrals to partners including Aspire, Airwallex, DBS, PayPal, TranSwap, and WorldFirst
Trustpilot 3.3 out of 5 from 668 reviews, across all markets

Osome is a licensed, funded provider: it reported SGD 26.6 million in revenue for the year to April 2025 and halved its EBITDA loss, according to its FY2025 results announcement. You can confirm its licence on the Companies Registry's register of TCSP licensees. The question this review answers isn't whether Osome is legitimate. It's whether the price on the page is the price you'll pay.

What Osome Promises

These are the claims a founder sees before signing, taken from Osome's Hong Kong site:

Osome page (Hong Kong) Wording used
Site-wide banner "Register your company for HK$8,950 HK$3,950 + open an Aspire account"
Company registration page "Your business is typically registered in less than three business days"
Accounting price page "transparent fees" and "Add-on prices are published so you can budget accurately"
Audit page "Our partners facilitate audits at a flat, transparent fee, so there's no need to worry about any unexpected extra charges"
Company secretary price page Essential plan "HK$1,400/y", with HKD 2,300 struck through
Audit and other service pages "4.8 out of 5, based on 449 Google reviews"

Each one is accurate as far as it goes. Here's where each one stops.

Promise 1: Incorporation for HKD 3,950

The banner shows HKD 3,950 next to a struck-through HKD 8,950. Read quickly, that looks like a discount on the Comprehensive package.

It isn't a price you pay. Osome's Aspire offer page explains the mechanics: you pay HKD 7,950 for Comprehensive (HKD 1,000 off the HKD 8,950 price), then receive HKD 4,000 cashback from Aspire, but only if you are a new customer of both Osome and Aspire, open the Aspire account through Osome's referral link with the promo code, and deposit at least HKD 8,000 within 30 days of opening it. HKD 3,950 is what's left after a third party's cashback, on a condition you have to meet.

That's a reasonable deal if you wanted an Aspire account anyway. But your out-of-pocket cost on day one is HKD 7,950, and you have to deposit at least HKD 8,000 of your working capital into the Aspire account within 30 days of opening it to unlock the rest. If you're comparing providers, use HKD 7,950 or the standard HKD 8,950, not HKD 3,950.

Promise 2: Registered in Under Three Business Days

Osome's registration page says your business is "typically registered in less than three business days." The same page's FAQ says "about 3-4 business days." Further down, for founders outside Hong Kong, it says registration "will typically be finalised within 5-7 working days."

The terms explain why the headline can't be a promise. Under clause 4, Osome starts work only after you pass its onboarding checks, and "The conduct and requirements for Onboarding are determined solely by Us." Osome keeps "sole and absolute discretion" to decide whether you pass, and services begin "on a date notified to You."

Identity and anti-money laundering checks are a legal duty for every licensed provider, so none of this is unusual. What matters is the planning. If you're setting up from abroad, budget for five to seven working days after your checks clear, not three.

Promise 3: Transparent, Published Prices

Osome does publish its prices, and in more detail than most providers. The fine print is about what happens to those prices after you sign.

None of these clauses is unique to Osome; fee-change, auto-renewal, and late-interest clauses are common in subscription contracts. Two stand out, though. The retrospective re-tiering in clause 2.6 is unusually broad, because Osome alone decides what "excessive" means. And the revenue true-up on accounting is the reverse of a fixed price: the bill you budget for is an estimate until the year closes.

Recent Trustpilot reviews, mostly from Osome's UK and Singapore clients, show similar problems in practice: complaints about revenue-band adjustments after the year, and about an automatic renewal charged earlier than expected.

Promise 4: An Audit With No Unexpected Costs

Every Hong Kong company must have its accounts audited each year, unless it has been formally declared dormant, and file a Profits Tax Return. Osome's audit page is reassuring on cost: "Our partners facilitate audits at a flat, transparent fee, so there's no need to worry about any unexpected extra charges." The menu that links to it promises "Comprehensive company audit services with no unexpected costs."

Three things on Osome's own pages complicate that.

There's no audit price to see. The audit page asks you to "Get an instant quote" and says the quote "will be based on your company's yearly revenue." The fee may well be flat once quoted, but it isn't published, so you can't budget for it from the website.

Osome doesn't do the audit. Clause 2.1 of the terms states: "We do not provide regulated legal or audit services." Partner audit firms do. Clause 8 adds that when Osome refers you to a third party, it makes no representation about "the suitability, quality or reliability of the vendor", and "You are solely responsible for making an independent assessment" of them. Clause 16.2.4 excludes Osome's liability for "any failure, delay, or error arising from or caused by Third Party Services."

Only the top accounting plan includes it. Osome's accounting price page lists three plans billed yearly by revenue band. Audited financial statements, the profits tax computation, and filing the Profits Tax Return appear only in Scale. At the lowest revenue band (up to HKD 200,000), that's HKD 10,188 a year, against HKD 3,500 for Operate and HKD 4,200 for Grow. The page's own FAQ on "additional costs beyond the standard accounting packages" lists payroll, employer returns, historical accounting, and urgency filing, but not the audit, although its introduction mentions "audit support" and "tax filing" as add-ons without publishing a price for either.

So a founder who picks Operate to keep costs down still needs an audit, quoted separately, from a partner firm. Under clause 8, Osome makes no representation about that firm, and under clause 16.2.4 it excludes liability for failures caused by third-party services. If you need an audit, and in Hong Kong you do, compare the cost of Scale against Operate or Grow plus a written audit quote before you choose a plan.

Osome vs Statrys on Accounting: Revenue vs Transactions

Statrys also sells accounting, and its monthly fee includes bookkeeping, the audit, and the profits tax filing, so the like-for-like comparison is Osome's Scale plan. The two are priced on different things. Osome charges by your revenue band. Statrys accounting charges by how many transactions go through your company's business account each month, counting every payment in or out, card spend and bank fee, from HKD 891.67 a month for up to two, billed three months upfront.

That difference decides who's cheaper. Here's what three typical companies would pay a year:

Company Osome Scale Statrys
Consultant: HKD 150,000 revenue, 2 transactions a month HKD 10,188 HKD 10,700
Trading or services firm: HKD 1 million revenue, 5 transactions a month HKD 29,888 HKD 11,720
Online shop: HKD 400,000 revenue, 60 transactions a month HKD 19,088 HKD 31,200

Osome is slightly cheaper for the smallest companies and clearly cheaper for high-volume, lower-revenue businesses like online shops. Statrys is far cheaper for companies with high revenue and few transactions, which describes many consulting, trading, and holding companies set up in Hong Kong. Neither price is fixed, though. Osome changes your bill if your revenue moves into a different band (its price page also mentions transaction count), while Statrys sets your tier from your average monthly transactions over the past three months.

Promise 5: A HKD 1,400 Company Secretary

Osome's company secretary price page shows the Essential plan at HKD 1,400 a year, down from HKD 2,300. The condition sits right under it: "with any Accounting plan." Bought on its own, the company secretary costs HKD 3,600 a year (the Unlimited plan).

On Essential, changes are charged one by one: HKD 660 per director or shareholder change, HKD 880 per share allotment or transfer. And year two adds two items the incorporation package covered: a registered address (HKD 3,000) and the Business Registration Certificate (HKD 2,900). Osome doesn't say whether the HKD 2,900 includes the HKD 2,350 government fee, so ask them about it.

Year-two item Osome, with an Osome accounting plan Osome, without one Statrys
Company secretary and Annual Return filing HKD 1,400 HKD 3,600 ✅ Included
Registered address HKD 3,000 HKD 3,000 ✅ Included
Business Registration Certificate HKD 2,900 HKD 2,900 ✅ Included, government fee covered
Total for the year HKD 7,300, plus the accounting plan HKD 9,500 HKD 6,966

What Two Years Actually Cost

Take a founder living outside Hong Kong who is the only director and shareholder and has their own accountant. They need incorporation, a registered address, and a company secretary, and nothing else.

Provider and route Year one + year two Two-year total
Osome Comprehensive HKD 8,950 + HKD 9,500 HKD 18,450
Osome Essential plus HKD 3,000 address HKD 7,650 + HKD 9,500 HKD 17,150
Statrys HKD 7,875 + HKD 6,966 HKD 14,841

That founder pays HKD 2,309 to HKD 3,609 more over two years with Osome, and the gap grows by HKD 2,534 each year after.

Add accounting with the audit and tax filing, and the answer depends on the business. For the same founder with revenue under HKD 200,000 and about two transactions a month, Osome comes to HKD 35,326 over two years (Essential plus address, the bundled secretary plan in year two, and Scale at HKD 10,188 a year) and Statrys to HKD 36,241 (with accounting at HKD 10,700 a year), so Osome is HKD 915 cheaper.

At HKD 1 million in revenue with five transactions a month, Osome's Scale plan rises to HKD 29,888 a year while Statrys stays at HKD 11,720, and the two-year totals become HKD 74,726 with Osome and HKD 38,281 with Statrys.

If You Want to Leave: The Exit Terms

Marketing pages rarely say how a relationship ends. For a company secretary, that's the part that matters most, because your statutory registers and filings sit with the provider.

Clause What it says What it means for you
13.2: Notice Either side can end a service with "at least thirty (30) days' written notice", but you may not serve notice that ends a service "during the minimum commitment period applicable to that Service" The terms don't say how long that minimum period is. Ask, and get it in writing
13.5.2: Refunds on exit "In no event will You be entitled to refund or service credit" if you end a service under clause 13.2 Leave in month three of a yearly plan and the other nine months stay paid
14.1: Unpaid charges "Upon termination or expiry of the Services Contract, all unpaid Charges become immediately due" Any true-up or outstanding invoice lands at once
17.1.5: Indemnity You indemnify Osome for penalties, costs and legal costs "on a full indemnity basis" connected with "the provision or cessation of Services", including the "winding down and transition of Services" Costs Osome incurs when you move away can be passed back to you
9.1: Suspension Osome has "sole and absolute discretion to suspend or terminate" services "for any reason", including "reputational risk" Osome can stop acting for your company; plan how you'd replace a secretary quickly
16.3.1: Liability cap Osome's total liability is "limited to the sum of Service Fees paid to Us by You in the calendar year in which Your claim or claims first arise", except for fraud, gross negligence, wilful misconduct and liability that cannot lawfully be excluded (clause 16.4) If a missed filing costs you more than the fees you paid that calendar year, the excess is yours unless one of those exceptions applies

What the terms don't say is as telling. Clause 14, "Consequences of Termination", covers unpaid charges and surviving clauses, and the only return-of-records wording is in clause 18.5, which says Confidential Information must be "returned or destroyed" without naming your statutory registers or company records. The terms also don't say who files Form ND2A, the notice of change of company secretary that your company must deliver to the Companies Registry within 15 days. Osome may handle both well in practice; the contract doesn't clearly commit to either. Ask before you sign, not when you're leaving.

To be fair to Osome, a liability cap tied to annual fees and a right to drop clients for compliance reasons are standard for licensed providers. The combination worth noticing is no refunds, an undefined minimum commitment, and a broad indemnity for exit costs.

What Osome's Customers Say

Osome's service pages show "4,8 out of 5, based on 449 Google reviews". On Trustpilot, across all its markets, it's rated 3.3 out of 5 from 668 reviews: 80% five-star, 16% one-star, very little in between. Osome has replied to about a third of its negative reviews, and its last reply to one was in April 2026.

screenshot of an Osome review

The recent picture is sharper. Of the 40 most recent reviews (October 2025 to September 2026), 20 are five-star and 19 are one-star, though two of them (one of each) don't describe Osome's service at all. None was invited by Osome: Trustpilot labels every one of them unprompted. The positive ones praise friendly accountants, often by name, and a smooth incorporation. The negative ones repeat four themes:

  • Delays, in about 13 reviews, from slow replies to late filings
  • Communication, in about 8: bot-led replies, chasing for answers, no single contact
  • Billing, in about 5: unexpected charges, revenue-band adjustments after the year, and an early automatic renewal
  • Missed deadlines and penalties, in about 5, in Singapore and the UK
Screenshot of an Osome review

Only two of the 40 clearly relate to Hong Kong: a client whose audit report was still undelivered 14 months after the company's year-end, and a client who says they were charged almost HKD 19,000 for an offshore tax exemption service. Two reviews don't make a pattern, but the audit case is the scenario clause 16.3.1 caps and clause 8 places on a third party.

How to Check Any Provider Before You Sign

You don't need to take our word for any of this. These checks take about 20 minutes and work on any provider, including Statrys.

  1. Search the licence. Look up the provider's name on the Companies Registry's TCSP register.
  2. Get the year-two price in writing. Ask for the secretary, registered address, Business Registration, and Annual Return together, without any bundle you don't want.
  3. Read four clauses. Find the sections on fee changes, refunds, termination, and liability. Note the notice period, any minimum commitment, and whether fees are refundable.
  4. Ask who does the audit. If it's a partner, get the audit quote before you choose an accounting plan.
  5. Ask how you'd leave. Confirm who hands over your statutory registers and files Form ND2A if you switch secretary, and what it costs.
  6. Read the unprompted reviews. On Trustpilot, filter for the last 12 months and look at reviews that weren't invited.

If you already have a Hong Kong company and want to compare secretaries, our list of the best company secretary services in Hong Kong applies the same checks to eight providers.

Osome is the cheaper start for a founder who already has a Hong Kong address, and with accounting included it's cheaper for very small companies and for high-volume, lower-revenue businesses like online shops. For a founder who needs the address and the secretary, Statrys costs less over two years and publishes a single renewal price, and its accounting costs far less for companies with high revenue and few transactions, because it's priced on transactions rather than revenue. It also handles the business account itself, so your application goes in with the documents you've already provided. Over 1,600 companies have been incorporated through Statrys.

Run the six checks above on Statrys too. For a full side-by-side, see our Statrys vs Osome comparison, or our best company incorporation services in Hong Kong if you're comparing more than two providers.

FAQs

Is Osome legit in Hong Kong?

Yes. Osome Limited holds TCSP licence TC006825 from Hong Kong's Companies Registry, and every company formation and company secretary provider needs. Osome was founded in Singapore in 2017 and also operates in Hong Kong, the UK, and the UAE.

Is Osome's HKD 3,950 incorporation offer real?

It's a net figure. You pay HKD 7,950 for the Comprehensive package (HKD 1,000 off the HKD 8,950 price), then receive HKD 4,000 cashback from Aspire if you are a new customer of both Osome and Aspire, open the Aspire account through Osome's referral link with the promo code, and deposit at least HKD 8,000 within 30 days of opening it. Your out-of-pocket cost on day one is HKD 7,950.

Can I get a refund from Osome?

Osome's Hong Kong Terms of Business say "All Charges and Taxes paid are non-refundable". They also say you're not entitled to a refund or service credit if you end a service on 30 days' notice. Fees for a yearly plan stay paid even if you leave partway through.

What does Osome cost in year two?

HKD 7,300 a year for the company secretary, registered address, and Business Registration Certificate if you also buy an Osome accounting plan, or HKD 9,500 without one. Accounting is extra, from HKD 3,500 a year, and the audit and profits tax filing are included only in the Scale plan.

Does Osome do the audit for Hong Kong companies?

Not itself. Osome's terms state it does "not provide regulated legal or audit services"; partner audit firms do the work, priced on a quote based on your yearly revenue. Audited accounts and profits tax filing are bundled only in Osome's Scale accounting plan, from HKD 10,188 a year.

How do I leave Osome?

Give at least 30 days' written notice, unless you're still in a service's minimum commitment period, which the terms don't define. You won't get a refund for the unused part of the term, and unpaid charges fall due immediately. Ask in advance who hands over your statutory registers and files Form ND2A with the Companies Registry.

Is Osome or Statrys cheaper for accounting in Hong Kong?

It depends on your revenue and how many transactions you have. Osome's Scale plan, which includes the audit and tax filing, is priced by revenue band; Statrys's accounting, which also includes both, is priced by the number of transactions per month. A company with HKD 1 million in revenue and 5 transactions a month pays HKD 29,888 a year with Osome and HKD 11,720 with Statrys; an online shop with HKD 400,000 in revenue and 60 transactions a month pays HKD 19,088 with Osome and HKD 31,200 with Statrys.

What is the best alternative to Osome in Hong Kong?

For a founder who needs incorporation, a registered address, and a company secretary without bundling accounting, Statrys costs HKD 14,841 over two years against HKD 17,150 to HKD 18,450 with Osome, and includes an application for its own multi-currency business account. If you also want accounting with the audit, Statrys is usually cheaper for companies with high revenue and few transactions, and Osome for very small or high-volume businesses.
