Our Experience With Sleek Hong Kong: Incorporating a Company With Their Starter Plan

Sleek advertises its Hong Kong Starter Plan from HKD 4,973 for local founders and HKD 6,973 for foreigners. We went through the entire onboarding ourselves, from the homepage to the payment screen, on the Starter Plan. What we found is that the price you see upfront is not the price you end up paying once your company adds co-founders, makes changes or reaches its second year.

This article walks you through every cost that gets added along the way, so you know what to expect before you commit. Statrys offers the same service in Hong Kong, so we have a stake in this comparison, but we've tried to let the numbers speak, including where Sleek comes out cheaper.

What Sleek Advertises on Their Website

If you've been researching how to register a company in Hong Kong, you've almost certainly come across Sleek.

They're well-marketed, and their headline prices look competitive.

Prices for Hong Kong company formation vary significantly between providers, which makes it worth understanding exactly what you're being quoted before you commit.

We went through the entire Sleek HK onboarding process ourselves, from landing on their homepage to making the final payment, and recorded the whole thing. These are the exact screens and prices we saw in April 2026, and the exact moments where the cost shifted above what was advertised.

When you land on Sleek’s website and navigate to their Hong Kong company registration page, you’re presented with three plans: Starter, Compliance, and Full Compliance. The entry-level Starter Plan is advertised from HKD 4,973 for local founders, the version we tested, and from HKD 6,973 for foreigners. The two higher plans add accounting and audit services.

That “from” is doing a lot of work. It assumes one shareholder on the cheaper secretary option, and from year two the price depends on choices and details the incorporation page doesn’t show.

• Registered address and virtual mailroom (included for foreigners; a HKD 2,000 add-on for local founders)

• No accounting. No audit.

First Learning: The HKD 79 Service Fee

The first thing we noticed during onboarding in April 2026 was a HKD 79 Sleek Service Fee. It appeared as a separate line once we were inside the registration flow. It was part of the total due, but nothing on the pricing page explained it before we started.

HKD 79 is not a large amount. But it raises a straightforward question: what is this fee for? It had no description in the onboarding.

Second Learning: The Two-Tiered System

Early in the onboarding with the Starter Plan, you're asked to select between the Starter and the Premium options for your company secretary. This is the first moment where the advertised price may materially diverge from what you'll pay, and it introduces a structural choice with significant long-term implications.

This distinction between the Starter and Premium options still isn't shown on the incorporation page where you buy the Starter Plan. During our test, we only encountered it inside the onboarding flow. Since then, Sleek has started listing both tiers on its separate company secretary page, where the Starter option is now called Standard.

What Is Included in Each Option?

Standard option: covers routine annual secretarial maintenance, such as annual return filings and statutory records, to keep your company in good standing with the Companies Registry. It is designed for companies with a stable shareholder structure that do not anticipate changes to their directors or share allocation.

Premium option: includes everything in Standard, plus the ability to make corporate changes within the year, such as changes of director, a change of company name, allotment of new shares, and share transfers. For any company that expects to evolve its structure, this is the plan that covers those changes.

What Happens if You Choose the Standard Option and Need to Make a Change Later On

We took the Standard option ourselves, for a single-shareholder company. After incorporating, we contacted Sleek's support team to understand what would be involved in adding a shareholder. Here is what they confirmed:

At the time of our test, this cost was not mentioned during onboarding, nor on the pricing page. In fact, the onboarding listed “unlimited director and registered office updates” in every company secretary plan, and “unlimited company changes” at checkout. Sleek’s company secretary page does something similar today: it advertises “unlimited company changes without per-change fees”, then lists HKD 2,500 per director or share change on its cheaper Standard tier. The incorporation page still presents the Starter Plan without it.

At Statrys, corporate changes are also billed per change, and the fee depends on how the change is made. Adding a shareholder by issuing new shares costs HKD 1,500, while transferring existing shares to them costs HKD 4,000 per transfer. Appointing or removing a director costs HKD 2,000, and a change of company name costs HKD 1,500.

Third Learning: Your Number of Shareholders

The company secretary fee for the Starter Plan does not just depend on the option you choose (Standard or Premium). It also scales with the number of shareholders in your company. In our test, this was disclosed progressively during the onboarding. Today the same figures appear on Sleek's company secretary page, not on the incorporation page.

Premium scales too. Upgrading to avoid change fees doesn't take you out of the shareholder brackets. It moves you to a higher set of them.

If you start with a co-founder, that alone adds HKD 600 a year to the Standard rate, and a Premium secretary for a two-shareholder company costs HKD 4,400 a year.

At Statrys, the company secretary fee doesn't change with your shareholder count.

At first glance, the Sleek Starter Plan advertised at HKD 6,973 for foreigners, with the registered address included, looks cheaper than the HKD 7,875 fee charged by Statrys. For a solo founder who never changes the company, it is. But as the sections above show, those two numbers don't represent the same thing once the company grows. Here's a direct feature comparison:

Year-two totals include the HKD 2,350 Business Registration fee at the current rate. Sleek prices are from its incorporation and company secretary pages, and its year-two totals use its standalone HKD 2,000 address price, so ask whether your renewal bundles it.

Other Considerations

Sleek's onboarding is thorough. The process collects all required information in one go: company structure, director details, shareholder information, and address preferences. You don't need to go back and supply additional information later. It is genuinely comprehensive.

It takes time. Because the onboarding is so thorough, it also takes around 45 minutes to complete. The volume of options and information required is significant. That is a trade-off worth knowing about before you start.

Statrys includes both company creation and a business account application within the same platform. Once your company is set up, the business account application is accessible directly, without needing separate onboarding with another provider. Account opening is subject to approval, but the process stays within the same platform.

What to Ask Before You Choose an Incorporation Service

Based on this experience, here are the questions worth asking any incorporation provider before you start the process:

• Is the advertised price for a company with one shareholder? Most "from" prices assume a single shareholder. If you have co-founders or investors, you may be in a different bracket immediately.
• Are there tiers within the Company secretary service? Company secretary services can come in multiple tiers, not disclosed upfront. Ask which tier is included in the base price and what each tier does and doesn't include.
• Can you modify your share structure after incorporation, and at what cost? The answer significantly affects your real cost of flexibility over the life of the company. On Sleek's Standard tier, Sleek quoted us approximately HKD 3,000 and 5 to 7 working days to add a shareholder.
• Does the package include a business account? Many packages only introduce you to a partner bank or fintech. For a new company in Hong Kong, opening an account is one of the most time-consuming steps after incorporation.

The Bottom Line

The key question when choosing between Sleek and Statrys is how much flexibility your company will need after incorporation. On Sleek's Standard option, the tier included in the minimum advertised price, adding a shareholder or modifying your share structure is an ad hoc request: Sleek quoted us HKD 3,000 and 5 to 7 working days.

Avoiding that requires upgrading to Sleek's Premium option, from HKD 3,800 a year for one shareholder up to HKD 9,000 for more than 30. At Statrys, the secretary fee doesn't change with shareholder count, adding a shareholder through new shares costs HKD 1,500, and, unlike Sleek's Starter Plan, the package includes a business account application with no separate onboarding.

In year two, a one-shareholder company pays HKD 6,966 at Statrys, against about HKD 5,650 on Sleek's Standard option and about HKD 8,150 on Premium, each including the address and Business Registration.
