Written by Bertrand Théaud, Founder

20+ years in Asia as a corporate lawyer, investor, and fintech founder. I've sat on both sides of the table and seen the same avoidable mistakes hit founders again and again. The reviews and articles I write are for founders who'd rather skip the mistakes.

Sleek is one of the most visible incorporation providers in Hong Kong, and on published prices it's the cheapest we've compared for a non-resident founder with one shareholder, at about HKD 12,600 over two years. If your company will stay that simple, it's a reasonable choice.

Founders usually look elsewhere when the company changes, the accounting bill grows, or they want a business account from the same provider. This guide covers those reasons, traced to Sleek's own Hong Kong pages and terms, then compares seven licensed alternatives and explains how to switch.

At a Glance

Provider Best For
Statrys A business account and accounting in the same place
Osome Lower fees on company changes
BBCIncorp One fixed price in both years
Air Corporate An all-inclusive price with a strong review record
Get Started HK Neobank referrals
FastLane by Encor Visas, payroll, and Xero
Acclime Businesses expanding across Asia

Statrys is one of the alternatives, so we have a stake in this. We say where a competitor, Sleek included, is cheaper.

Why Founders Look for a Sleek Alternative

These come from Sleek's own Hong Kong pages and terms.

1. Company changes cost extra. Sleek's Standard company secretary plan is HKD 1,300 a year for one shareholder, rising to HKD 1,900 for two and HKD 2,300 for three to five. On Standard, "each director or share change is HK$2,500 per event". The Premium plan that includes changes starts at HKD 3,800 a year. For a company that adds a co-founder or an investor, the low secretary price doesn't last.

2. Accounting and audit are priced by your spending, and can be re-priced later. Sleek's accounting page says "Prices are gated by your average monthly business expenses". Its terms (the second clause 7.12) add that if you "exceed the prescribed usage of a Subscription Package", Sleek may, "even following the lapse of the relevant subscription period", upgrade the package and charge your card. "Prescribed usage" isn't defined. A busy year can mean a bigger bill after it ends.

3. There's no in-house business account. Sleek Hong Kong introduces you to its partners, Airwallex and Aspire, "subject to approval". Each runs its own checks and can decline a company that already exists.

4. The refund terms don't match the homepage. Sleek's Hong Kong homepage offers a "30-day Money Back Guarantee": "If you're not satisfied, we'll make it right – or refund you within 30 days." Its terms don't mention that guarantee. The first clause 7.12 says prepaid fees are "strictly non-refundable under any circumstances, unless otherwise stated by Sleek", and clause 10.4 allows a pro-rata refund only if you end the service "because of clear negligence and/or material default by Sleek". Its liability is capped at HKD 10,000 or a year's fees, "whichever is lower" (clause 8.5).

5. The reviews say little about Hong Kong, and what they say is mixed. Sleek is rated 4.3 on Trustpilot from 3,841 reviews, most of which concern its other markets, particularly the UK. Recent low-star reviews about Sleek Hong Kong describe a Business Registration renewal missed twice, a tax return not filed, an audit unfinished almost a year after payment, and Hong Kong enquiries routed to the Singapore team.

None of this makes Sleek a poor provider, and some of these terms are common in subscription contracts.

Two-Year Cost Compared With Sleek

Take a founder living outside Hong Kong, one director who's also the only shareholder, using the provider's registered address and company secretary, with their own accountant. Every price is the provider's own published figure. US dollar prices are converted at HKD 7.8, the middle of the band the Hong Kong Monetary Authority holds the Hong Kong dollar within (HKD 7.75 to 7.85 per US dollar).

Provider Year One Year Two Two-Year Total
Sleek (Non-Resident Starter) HKD 6,973 About HKD 5,650 (secretary HKD 1,300, address HKD 2,000, Business Registration HKD 2,350) About HKD 12,600
Statrys HKD 7,875 HKD 6,966 HKD 14,841
BBCIncorp USD 899 (about HKD 7,012) USD 899 all-in renewal (about HKD 7,012) About HKD 14,000
Air Corporate USD 1,070 (about HKD 8,346) USD 955 (about HKD 7,449) About HKD 15,800
Osome (Comprehensive) HKD 8,950 HKD 7,300 to HKD 8,200 with Osome accounting; HKD 9,500 without HKD 16,250 to HKD 18,450
Get Started HK USD 990 (HKD 7,700) Not published Ask before you sign
FastLane by Encor Quote-based Quote-based Ask before you sign
Acclime Quote-based Quote-based Ask before you sign

Sleek's total holds only while the company stays simple. Add one director change in year two and Sleek's two-year total becomes about HKD 15,100, above BBCIncorp and Statrys. Add a second shareholder and its secretary fee rises by HKD 600 a year.

With accounting and the audit, Sleek is still competitive at low volumes: its Basic accounting (HKD 3,500 list, HKD 2,975 on its current offer) plus Standard audit (HKD 5,500) comes to about HKD 9,000 a year for a company spending under HKD 15,000 a month. Statrys' accounting includes bookkeeping, the audit, and tax filing in every tier, from HKD 891.67 a month based on your monthly transactions. The difference is how each price moves: Sleek's with your spending, and after the year if you exceed your tier; Statrys' with your transaction count. Ask both for a quote on your expected activity.

Business Account Help Compared

A Hong Kong company can't easily get paid by clients or pay suppliers until it has a business account, and for a founder outside Hong Kong it's the step most likely to stall.

Provider What’s Included Own Account?
Sleek Free introduction to Airwallex or Aspire, subject to their approval No
Statrys Application for Statrys’ own multi-currency business account (11 currencies, subject to approval), included in the package Yes
BBCIncorp Airwallex account on its Essential tier; traditional bank support on Premium No
Air Corporate Fintech partners including Airwallex, Aspire, and Payoneer, plus partner bank introductions; traditional bank introductions on its Expert tier No
Osome Introductions to partners including Airwallex, Aspire, DBS, and WorldFirst No
Get Started HK Neobank referrals with a designated account manager No
FastLane by Encor Shortlist of banks and e-money institutions and a bank account meeting No
Acclime Prepares bank documents and arranges a bank meeting No

A referral means a third party runs its own checks and can decline you after your company already exists. An in-house account is still subject to approval, but the team that set up your company already holds your documents.

The 7 Best Sleek Alternatives

Every provider below holds a Trust or Company Service Provider (TCSP) licence, which you can check on the Companies Registry's register of TCSP licensees. For full profiles, including recent review analysis, see our best company incorporation services in Hong Kong.

1. Statrys: Best if You Want the Business Account and Accounting in the Same Place

Statrys homepage with accounting, business account and corporate services

Statrys (TCSP licence TC008677) charges HKD 7,875 for incorporation, including government fees, the registered address and company secretary for the first year, and company chops. The package includes an application for Statrys' own multi-currency business account, so the documents you provide for the company also go towards the account. Year two is HKD 6,966, all-in for the secretary, address, and Business Registration. Over 1,600 companies have been incorporated through Statrys.

Where it beats Sleek: its own multi-currency business account, accounting that includes the audit in every tier, and a 4.9 Trustpilot rating from 513 reviews.

Less ideal if: your company won't change and price is all that matters (Sleek and BBCIncorp cost less over two years), your transaction volume is high, since accounting fees rise with it, or you need visas or payroll.

Providers We Reviewed but Didn't Include

Provider Why It’s Not on the List
La Nao Consulting Shows a TCSP licence on its site, but publishes no prices (proposals on request) and focuses on cross-border trade and legal work between Hong Kong, China, and Latin America
Panocean Licensed and long-established, but no published pricing and no stated remote process
BoardRoom Licensed, but focused on multinationals and listed companies rather than founder-run businesses
easyCorp Licensed, but the secretary and address are extra, and its site shows four different headline prices

How to Switch From Sleek

If you already have a company with Sleek, moving it is mostly paperwork, but the timing matters more than with most providers because Sleek renews early. Here's what its Hong Kong terms say, and what the move involves.

Step What to Know
1. Find Your Renewal Date Clause 7.2: Sleek “will automatically renew the User’s subscription 30 days before the end of the applicable subscription period” and charge your saved payment method unless you cancel. Prepaid fees are “strictly non-refundable” (first clause 7.12)
2. Give Notice in Writing, Early Clause 10.1 requires “at least thirty (30) days’ written notice”. To avoid the automatic renewal charge, send it before that renewal point, so more than 30 days before your subscription period ends
3. Settle Open Invoices Under clause 7.9, outstanding amounts “shall attract late payment interest of 15% per annum”
4. Appoint the New Secretary Your new provider prepares the board resolution. Your company must file Form ND2A, the notice of change of company secretary, with the Companies Registry within 15 days. Sleek’s secretary page says its offboarding includes filing this and handing your statutory registers to the new provider; its terms don’t cover either, so confirm in writing
5. Move Your Registered Address File Form NR1, the notice of change of registered office address, with the Companies Registry within 15 days of the change
6. Export Your Records Clause 10.5 gives you 12 months after termination to export records; clause 10.6 says data may then be “deleted or overwritten” and that maintaining the company’s records is “your sole responsibility”

Most providers handle steps 4 and 5 for you. Whoever you move to, ask for the year-two price in writing before you give notice.

Switching From Sleek to Statrys

Sleek’s renewal timing is what to plan around: it charges 30 days before your subscription ends, and prepaid fees aren’t refunded. Statrys’ switching terms are built around that.

  • No switching fee, and nothing to pay until your company's next renewal date. Until then, Statrys covers the registered address, mail scanning, and company secretary at no charge.
  • Statrys handles the paperwork. Its change of company secretary service prepares and files the forms, including the ND2A, and coordinates the handover of your company files. The switch is typically completed within three days once all required documents are submitted.
  • Everything ends up with one provider. Once you've moved, you can apply for a Statrys multi-currency business account and add accounting, so your company, account, and books sit in one place.

Send Sleek your written notice more than 30 days before your subscription ends, then start the switch with Statrys.

FAQs

What is the best alternative to Sleek in Hong Kong?

It depends on why you’re leaving. For a business account and accounting with the audit from one provider, look at Statrys. For lower fees on company changes, look at Osome. For one published price in both years, look at BBCIncorp, and for a strong review record with both years priced, look at Air Corporate.

Is Sleek cheaper than its alternatives?

For a non-resident with one shareholder and no changes, yes: about HKD 12,600 over two years on published prices, the lowest we've compared. Each director or share change on its Standard plan adds HKD 2,500, and one change in year two takes it above BBCIncorp and Statrys.

Does Sleek offer refunds in Hong Kong?

Its homepage advertises a "30-day Money Back Guarantee", but its Hong Kong terms say prepaid fees are "strictly non-refundable under any circumstances, unless otherwise stated by Sleek", with a pro-rata refund only for Sleek's "clear negligence and/or material default". Ask Sleek to confirm the guarantee's conditions in writing before you pay.

Can I switch from Sleek to another provider?

Yes. Give Sleek written notice more than 30 days before your subscription ends, so it arrives before the automatic renewal; settle any open invoices; appoint the new company secretary; and file Form ND2A within 15 days. Statrys charges no switching fee and nothing until your next renewal date.

Does Sleek have its own business account in Hong Kong?

No. Sleek Hong Kong introduces clients to Airwallex or Aspire, subject to their approval.
