  • What are local currency accounts?

A local currency account is a type of business account that gives your company account details for a specific country, such as a UK sort code and account number or a German IBAN, in your business's name. It lets you send and receive payments in that country's currency and through its local payment rails, so your business can operate like a company based there instead of relying on international transfers.

  • How do I open a local currency account?

Log in to your Statrys Digital Backoffice, click "Open additional account," and select the jurisdiction you want to open. Once your application is approved, typically within 1 to 2 working days, you'll receive your local currency account details and can start using them straight away. Once your first local currency account is opened, you can request to open another in a different jurisdiction.

  • How long does it take to open a local currency account?

Approval times vary by jurisdiction and your account profile, and you will need to complete a quick online KYC. But most applications are reviewed and approved within 1 to 2 working days.

  • Who can open a local currency account?

All Statrys clients with a Hong Kong business account can request local currency accounts directly from their Digital Backoffice. If your primary Statrys account is in Singapore, you can first request a Hong Kong business account, and once it's opened, you'll be able to access the local currency account options available to Hong Kong account holders.

  • Are there monthly maintenance fees on local currency accounts?

There are no monthly maintenance fees on local currency accounts.

  • Can I transfer funds between a local currency account and my Statrys Hong Kong account?

Yes, you can transfer funds in both directions, from your Hong Kong account to a local currency account, and vice versa. The first transfer per calendar month in each direction is free. Subsequent transfers are charged HKD 60.

  • Can I get a payment card linked to a local currency account?

Statrys payment cards can only be linked to Hong Kong Business Accounts.
